We’ve all seen miracles.
Do we notice them?
Do we give God the credit He rightly deserves, or do we lightly credit them as an act of luck, coincidence, or wishful thinking?
Well, I can tell you one thing. I have seen miracles this week.
On our way to church last Sunday, one of my team’s vans was in an accident. An over correction when taking a curve resulted in a fish tail that could not be controlled. The van hit a patch of water, and shot off the road over a more than 5-foot ledge. Rolling twice, the van finally stopped after sinking into the muddy ground. Seven people were in this van, and seven people went away with their lives. This was no bout of luck. God’s hand was on my team.
Of seven people, five had on their seat belts. Let me tell you, just the fact that there were enough seatbelts to go around is a miracle. Yet even those who normally don’t wear one somehow buckled in this morning. God’s hand was on my team.
Of seven people, five got up and walked away from that van with only minor cuts and bruises. This van was old and worn and didn’t even have airbags. Four of six windows went out, it rolled two times down a 5-foot ledge and FIVE people got up and walked out of that van. God’s hand was on my team.
One of my squadmate’s heads went out the window as it rolled to meet muddy ground. This squadmate suffered a concussion. A van rolled on top of her head, and she suffered only a concussion. She walked out of that van. That ground could have been solid. Yet instead it was soft mud. God’s hand was on my team.
Of the two girls without seat belts, one was catapulted out of the van and landed several feet from its side. That van was rolling with a lot of force. It could have kept rolling. Yet it stopped mid-roll getting stuck in the mud. God’s hand was on my team.
Two of our girls were admitted to the hospital. Both of them were not wearing a seat belt. One was admitted with a fractured pelvis and swelling of the brain. The other, four broken ribs, a broken clavicle, a hemothorax (blood in the pleural cavity of the lung from a puncture) and a torn muscle in her leg. There was talk she may need surgery on her clavicle, her leg and possibly her abdomen if any of the broken ribs had fragmented.
On the first day we were told her torn muscle was going to need surgery.
The next day the doctor was amazed to find her torn muscle somehow was only a bruise.
On the second day we were told she was going to need surgery on her broken clavicle.
The next day her x-rays showed the broken clavicle was now somehow completely fine.
On the third day she was told her pleural cavity was full of blood again. They planned to insert a second chest tube to drain the blood the next day.
The next day her sonogram showed no trace of blood. Overnight, it was completely gone!
This teammate was supposed to be in the hospital another two weeks. This teammate is being discharged tomorrow. She is walking and her spirits are high. God's hand was on my team and He performed miracles in us this week.
Prayer is powerful, folks and God is Healer! All of these acts were no coincidence. They were not luck. That ground was muddy because God put it there, those five teammates had on their seatbelts because God inclined them to, that van stopped rolling because God made it stop, those people are alive today because God has more plans for them, and torn muscles were repaired and broken bones were mended because God is answering our prayers. God saved my teammates, and He continues to heal them every day.
He says if we have the faith of a mustard seed, we have the power to move mountains. Just think about that. Faith as small as a mustard seed has the power to move one of the biggest wonders God created. He’s asking us to trust Him, to depend on Him, and to have faith that He always has our best in mind. God was with my team last Sunday, and He never left our side.
Our God is Faithful, and He is so so good!
Thank you so much to all of you who have kept my team in your prayers this last week. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as my two teammates travel back to the states to fully recover, and as the rest of us move on to India.
Your prayers are powerful, and they mean the world.
