Last month my team had some really good Bible study times together.  One of those times we read a couple of chapters in Psalms and then we were asked to take a couple of minutes and write our own Psalm.  It was really cool to hear everyone share theirs.  My teammates are all so different and uniquely talented.  Each Psalm was personal and beautiful.

Below is the Psalm I wrote.  I concentrated on three different qualities that I felt like God had been revealing to me recently.  It was a great exercise and I challenge you to consider writing one of your own.  Don’t worry about trying to make it sound beautiful, just write whatever comes to your heart.  David was a man after God’s own heart and I believe he shares his heart with us in the book of Psalms.

Praise be to my God, my provider, my lover.

Oh Lord you are my God.
The same God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, Peter and Paul.
You are the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
There is no other God. All other gods are man made and false.
You are my God.

You are my provider.
The same provider that gave manna and quail to the Israelites in the desert and provided a way for us to be redeemed through the blood of Christ.
You provide for my physical, financial, emotional and spiritual needs.
You are my provider.

You are my lover.
You knew me and loved before I was created. You know the number of hairs on my head. You loved me enough to send your only son to pay the price I owed but could never pay. You loved me before I loved you. Your love is deeper and wider than any ocean and higher than any mountain. You are love.
You are my lover.

Praise be to my God, my provider, my lover.
