What we’ve done so far in South Africa:

  1. Ran a soccer camp and did a skit, devotionals, message, and spoken word for a church youth group.
  2. Went to church and shared what we’re doing this year.
  3. Ran sports camp, lead games, and gave devotionals at a public school for grade school and junior high kids.
  4. Went to a professional soccer game at the World Cup stadium.
  5. Ran a basketball practice, scrimmaged, and shared the gospel with a group of men.
  6. Gone on walks, runs, and hikes and seen God’s beauty in the ocean, mountains, sunsets and seen whale, seals, penguins, and some saw sharks.
  7. Met new people, tried new foods, learned new sports and games.
  8. Been colder than any of us expected, but still managed to get sun burnt.
  9. Prayed for the city, prayed for people, and preached the gospel.
  10. Celebrated Heritage Day AKA Braai (cookout/barbecue) Day in South Africa.
  11. Gotten to know our teammates better, stayed up way too late talking, laughed a lot, and got to experience one of our team members getting baptized in the ocean.

What God’s done so far while we’ve been in South Africa:

  1. Challenged our views of God and how to worship Him (We were called on to dance in front of the church last Sunday).
  2. Shown off his creation and beauty.
  3. Healed Anna Lisa’s (one of our squad mates) wrist.
  4. Healed our contact Bradley’s groin.
  5. Provided $10,000 in 15 hours for my sister Tarah and brother-in-law Seth’s family to go to Mozambique for a couple of months to do missions work.
  6. Kept our teams here safe from hurt, harm, and sickness.
  7. Brought my high school friend Christina Bacino who lives here and who I was trying to connect with to the exact place I was hanging out without either of us knowing it or planning it. We were literally sitting 10 feet away from each other.
  8. Moved in various people’s hearts that we have connected with and shared the gospel with.
  9. Worked through us to love on kids and strangers and share with them the love of Jesus.
  10. Taught us how to step out in faith and be alright with the uncomfortable.
  11. Connected us with other believers in another country that we can support and encourage.
