GENERAL NOTE TO ALL WRs, WHY TESTING?
Hey gang! Your response to taking the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis is wonderful! We really appreciate the time you’ve invested. Almost all of you have done it sooner rather than later. THANKS! We want you to know the “why.” WR is a high stress ministry. You need to know what you’re made of, what your strengths are and what areas of your personality & character are most likely to cause you stress.
The Meyers-Briggs tends to give your inner-outer orientation to the world of people – and especially your inner orientation as it interfaces with your environment. The Leading from Your Strengths info gives the roles in leadership for which you are naturally suited. The Taylor-Johnson gives similar information, but more from an emotional strength point of view. It tends to be more revealing of your practical, psychological make up. The nice thing about the T-J is, the trait characteristics which may be problematic, can change and do change with work. Change happens, especially when we are willing to partner with the Holy Spirit on the areas that need a bit of work.
We all have stuff. Life, ministry, the aging process, relationships – all trigger the need to change. Translate that into the need to grow, to mature in Christ.
So, join us. The T-J is a window into your trait make–up. It interfaces, mirrors and contrasts the other instruments. The results of these 3 tools are pieces of a mosaic—a picture of who you are at this time in your life. SELF UNDERSTANDING IS VITAL FOR HEALTHY TEAM DYNAMICS. Team unity is a core reality to hearing the Holy Spirit and obeying Him for a powerful cross-cultural ministry.
Socrates, the Greek philosopher said, “KNOW THYSELF.” One of the few sane Roman emperors, Marcus Aurelius said, “CONTROL THYSELF.” Jesus said, “DENY THYSLEF, TAKE UP THE INSTRUMENT OF YOUR OWN DEATH,( your cross) AND FOLLOW ME. You must know your core self to do these 3 things. Our testing approach at AIM attempts to strengthen you emotionally and spiritually to that end.
So what needs to die, (be crucified) ? The enemies of the soul are: 1. (Sin-filled culture around us that “chokes out the seed,” as in the parable of the Sower) The World, 2. (sin-filled, selfish, self centered, self indulgent SELF) The Flesh and 3.The Devil.
Learning to “Resist him” so he will flee from you and learning how to “crucify the world and the flesh,” hinges on knowing what is inside you. He uses your natural weakness to wreck ministry and team unity.
