Hey everyone!
I was just thinking this week about our session at Training Camp (about blogging/storytelling) and how several of you had questions and sought advice afterward. I know I suggested over and over to journal while you’re gone- first of all for your personal reasons (working through personal things, memories to look back on, and meditating on things God is teaching you)- but I also explained it’s one of the best ways to help blogging—so you have something to look back on when you get some time to sit down and write a blog.
Several of you spoke up that you journaling wasn’t something you really knew how to do—you weren’t really sure how to tackle it. I remembered this technique from college the other day and wanted to share it with you- it’s called a Journey Track. This is not something to add to your “to-do” list – it’s just a little something I thought might help some of you out!
Journey Track
When you reflect on your week (or it can be done throughout the week), ask yourself-
What are my:
• Trials or Circumstances I’m struggling with?
• Key Teachings I’ve heard that have struck a chord with me?
• Key Verses I’ve been meditating on?
• Key Thoughts or questions?
• Key Songs I’ve been singing (God can even use secular songs sometimes in amazing ways!)
• Key Prayers I’ve been praying (it’s incredible to see God answer specific prayers over time!)
End with a summary—your final thoughts or a “wrap up” of the week. Then decide on a Title for the week.
I usually put these subtitles in the front of my journal to flip back to –
Title:
Trials/Circumstances:
Key Teachings:
Key Verses:
Key Thoughts/Questions:
Key Songs:
Key Prayers:
Summary:
This would be easy to turn into a blog – you could pull from these entries what you want to share. It’s also great to look back over a few weeks, or even a few months and be able to recognize a theme you’re meditating on or specific things God is teaching you over time.
I hope this helps!
Love you guys! Let me know if there’s any other way I can help. I’m praying for you!
In HIS hands,
Ericka <><
