We are so excited about you guys arriving soon for training camp! We have lined up some incredible speakers and are looking forward to having a great time with you.

You’re probably wondering what to expect at the conference. Here are some expectations of you in advance:

Expectations

Remember three key words: Engage, Expose, and Dispose

Engage: Show us you’re a “Goer” (one of our mottos is “Go with the Goers”). Take notes. Learn.

Expose: The False Self. The Cultural Self. The Wounded Self.

Dispose: Agree with God about the parts of you that need to die.

Learn WR spiritual hygiene

  • Know how to adapt to an unpredictable and changing schedule.
  • Develop the ability to praise God in all things instead of complaining.
  • Learn how to get alone in a crowd.
  • Be able to have time with God on the move.
  • Learn to be a cohesive group while doing the WR.

Leadership candidacy

During camp, staff and coaches will begin to talk with you about leadership on World Race. Everyone has gifts and talents that will be used at various times to help lead the team. However, certain people will carry the responsibility of a team leader role. Throughout camp we will watch for who the Lord is showing to assume this role as well as how each person’s gifts and talents can be best utilized.

Camp Rules

These are a few things to be aware of ahead of time. At orientation we will discuss how the culture of camp should be.

  • Park on top of the hill. Leave the bottom parking lot for camp and office staff.
  • Bathrooms and showers are outside ONLY
  • Buddy system – if you go anywhere, take a friend
  • AIM Dress Code applies – please no tank tops or anything too short.
  • Respect the Office. People will continue on their normal jobs during training. Respect the volume level and unless scheduled otherwise, assume the Office is off limits.
  • Meals and meetings are not optional. The only excuse to miss either is because you are meeting with a prayer counselor. In such a situation, notify your team leader.
  • In case of emergency, go to your team leader first. Team leaders then call 911 and notify AIM staff simultaneously. Pray we don’t need this!
  • Transparency. The best way to grow in yourself and with your team is through transparency. Use your journaling time to cultivate a community of transparency. Also, be prepared to talk during group times. For some of you this is easier than others, but your team leaders will expect to hear from
    all of you.
  • Be on time. No excuses. Ever.

Counselors Available

During the conference, counselors and coaches are available to meet with you as you need. WR participants are encouraged to not take any “extra baggage” with them in. Avail yourselves of the help to get rid of emotional baggage. Each of you will be scheduled with your coach to spend time to get to know you, see where you are at and identify a growth plan during the preparation process and throughout the year.
