Several
times a week, I run into someone who wants to know what I do. I share
with them about the World Race, and they usually say something like,
“Oh, that’s so cool. I’ve never heard of anything like that before!
I’ve actually been thinking about doing something like that…” And
then, I challenge them to consider it, give them a card, and maybe
offer to follow up with them. Or, they have a friend/child/whatever
who’s interested in doing it. You get the idea.
We all need to
step out of our comfort zones and realize that we’ve been blessed to
bless others. How many people do you know that need to do a trip like
this, maybe more than you? How many of you are caught up in the stress
of support-raising and know that there are people you should be talking
to about the Race, but it’s just hard to find the time?
As
you’re raising funds and awareness for your trip, please consider that
God may be bringing you into contact with someone whom he wants to send
on the Race. And you’re the method he’s using to bring them to their
destiny.
Friends, movements start with a few who believe in
something so much that they think it could change the world. What if
1000 young people went on the World Race in 2009? What if they told
everyone they knew about it? What would happen in the nations? What
would happen in America? I want to encourage you to think big like
this, and I want you to know that AIM is here to resource you with
whatever you need to activate others.
So, here’s my challenge for you for the next couple weeks:
1)
Email 20 friends with a link to your blog and a short paragraph on what
the WR is and why you’re doing it. Don’t ask for money. Just share what
you’re doing and invite them to follow the story and consider looking
at it for themselves.
2) Talk to 5 people in person that you think
should consider doing it. Don’t pressure them or try to recruit them;
just pray about it, see who God puts on your heart, and share with
them. If they’re thinking about it, but now’s just not the right time,
tell them to follow your blog this next year. Have a long-term
perspective on this. Just plant seeds.
3) Ask 2 influencers
(pastors, bosses, youth leaders, businessmen) to put up some flyers for
your or share your blog link with everyone they know. This is a great
way to raise up prayer partners.
