Hey Racers,

Recently, we have noticed many of you posting support updates on your personal blog. We want to applaud you for using the resources and tools set before you to help get in all of your funds. That shows a proactive mindset and a seriousness about getting in your money. Way to go!!!

At the same time, we want to remind you to use your blog as a ministry focused place. Remember that support raising is all about personal attention. It is time consuming and tedious, but to be successful in support raising you should attempt to make personal contact with each potential and current supporter. Think of it this way… how do you personally feel when you read a blog? when you get a mass email? when you get a personal email? when you get a letter in the mail? when you get a handwritten personal letter in the mail? when you have dinner with someone? In the same way that you feel more special the more personal it gets, you can also expect your support raising to be more successful the more personal it gets. For this reason, your blog is the least effective tool you have. However, it is a tool that you can use.

Our suggestion would be to put up a blog about support and numbers about once a month. This would utilize the opportunity for complete strangers to join you and give your current supporters a quick reminder and update. However, come up with a separate game plan for giving personal attention to your supporters such as a monthly email or sending them postcards from other countries. This will help you maintain your support base while freeing up your blog to focus on sharing the stories from the Lord and ministering to your readers’ hearts and spirits instead of their pocket books. It will also keep your readers’ coming back to read your blog regularly whereas regular appeals for money on your blog will drive many people away from reading.

You guys are doing an awesome job. Remember to keep first things first – Jesus above all and support raising in its place through God’s mercy. We are praying that God continues to give you peace and provide all you need!
