1000s of prayers
Ministry this month has been unplanned, busy and full of changes. Creating space for a structure loving team to experience and learn to adapt to change quickly.
Amidst all the chaos, one thing has remained the same. People want prayer. They want prayer from us, the white people who showed up to their village (short soapbox on this that I will hop on).
[soapbox: this has been a challenge for me. anyone with a relationship with Christ has the Holy Spirit activated and working within them. (we all have the Holy Spirit in us, it is whether or not we choose to accept Christ as Savior and pursue more with Him does it begin to dwell within us freely). I digress; my point is that the color of my skin does not make my prayers any more powerful. Oh how I pray this would be understood. The Father hears us all, and my prayers are just as likely to change one’s circumstances as their own prayers. It isn’t up to me; it is entirely up to the Lord and His will. :hopping off soapbox]
Each person and/or family we met, we would ask our translator to ask what they would like prayer for. She asks. In the first couple villages she would tell us, “this family wants prayer for children’s schooling, financial problems, health and many blessings.” Occasionally, we would get a prayer for healing or a baby. After the first two villages our translator, just started saying “blessings and you know all the things” (I think we may have influenced her with some WR culture haha).
As we prayed the same thing for the seemingly thousandth time I began to think. Is this prayer even heard? I would get bored hearing it over and over again. Lord what is the point? I just want to know what is truly in their hearts. What does their heart desire prayer for? What is the struggle in their relationship with you? How can I REALLY be praying for them?
Then, the Father laid His hand gently upon me and said listen. I will tell you what to pray, if you just listen.
As I began to listen and as I laid hands on individuals my thoughts were flooded. I was in awe! What are these big and powerful prayers, heck yes! This rocks, let’s go Lord! The mundane prayers became more. The Lord heard those prayers, but He had more in mind for His children. He spoke words into me to speak over them in prayer. Prayers of dreams, Spiritual Giftings, hardships in their lives, the callings on their life, desires in their hearts, relationship with the Father, relationships with others, healings and other things. Things that I would not have known. Things the Holy Spirit knew they needed.
Those “all the things” prayers became an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to work in me and them.
God is moving here in India and His plans are great. Please join me in praying over this country! There are more unreached people in India then there are people in Africa. These people don’t even all know the goodness and power of our Lord and Savior. Pray for the spread and call of God’s people to reach the unreached.
