What better way to begin than by sending praise to Jesus for His faithfulness to set up provisions for all who seek!
Matthew 7:7 – Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Over the course of a couple weeks since returning from Training Camp I have heard the word “God Speed” from a handful of people. Okay cut to the chase, what is “God Speed”? How are we as humans supposed to function with a supernatural God whose time doesn’t always match up with the watch on our wrist? We pray and expect God to be like <BAM> fresh from heaven here is your answer, or here is your direction, or your prayer is answered.
He reassuringly is showing me His utmost perfect timing in these few days before launch. “God Speed”/”God Time”, and I was feeling a loss of connection to hearing His voice, seeing His ways, feeling His nudge. Which in turn I found myself reaching out to others, without allowing the calmness and silence for His answer to convey in my soul.
A couple of examples:
At Training Camp we were addressed with a challenge to abandon our phone for the race. This is in hopes to help racers engage to be more present throughout the race, and experiencing God (yup I just said it and that will be my year devotional while on the race that I am taking with me “Experiencing God” by Henry & Richard Blackaby, and Claude King). Anyways, back to what I was saying! (My thoughts) Alright, cool I know I need to give up my phone, and I am actually super excited to have hands free if you know what I mean. Also, I can honestly say I know that my phone is a comfort for me, and this is about getting uncomfortable and allowing God to MOVE. Yet, I was hung up! Hung up on what all I should bring. So initially I thought okay I’ll bring my MacBook (for communicating home, holding pictures, availabilities for CD’s, blogging, music downloads), my GoPro (for taking video and pictures), and I will take an iPad (for reading and listening to music). I went back and forth, and listened to others thoughts and opinions. I prayed about it asking for Him to tell me. I wasn’t hearing His answer, and justifying in my own mind what I should bring.
That is until I started a fast, got alone with God, and had intentional conversation with Him about it. He faithfully revealed to me that some of the richest people are those who have nothing. Maybe they only have a bible. He told me that to grow and develop this relationship with Him it isn’t about the technology things I have, but it happens in my prayer life, opening up the Bible to seek His word, and worship. So the conclusion is God spoke, and He brought life to me without the need of an iPad or Phone. I will be bringing an iPod, GoPro, MacBook, and a Kindle that is being loaned to me by one of my lovely racers to read from our squads book list. Who also shared her thoughts that she felt were for her and I!
“Seek to learn something from God everyday. Don’t just seek Him, seek out an experience with Him, an encounter, and hear the lesson. Even if it’s just one a day, they all add up and form who He is making us to look like, Jesus.”
Laura Goodale
Thank you Jesus!
On another note it was a little emotional leaving my loved one’s back home, and packing. I am beyond excited to see how God works in and through me these next 11 months. I made a video that gives a visual idea of where we will be going. My phone will be turned off as of the 29th. Please if you would like to keep in touch email me or comment on this blog. My e-mail is [email protected]
Please keep the racers and family members in your prayers as we go into launch and travel! Currently we are in Atlanta. We will be heading to Dubai>Johannesburg>(Team LOL) to East London starting July 1st. Much love!
Romans 8:26-27 – In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
