Google defines unity as ‘the state of being united or joined as a whole.’ Our advisor Deborah has spent many moments praying for our team. When we arrived at camp she told us the word God kept speaking to her over our squad was unity. At first I thought well that makes sense since we are all serving the Lord together as a team. But through camp the book of Ephesians took that simple word into a whole new meaning for me. I truly began to see why unity was so important in our little community and how that simple word unity would truly change everything for me and my sweet Jesus loving family. I am truly blessed. In fact the word unity in Greek actually translates to “oneness.” How awesome is this. How awesome is our God. One body. Ephesians 4:4 says there is one body and one spirit. This verse was speaking so much life into me during the time I spent at camp. This was more than just a 10 day camp, this time spent with my new family truly changed my life. Worshiping together, eating strange foods together, laughing together, being spiritually challenged together, praying together, and doing life together was only a small glance into what the next nine months will be like advancing the kingdom of God while also being able to pour into each other and get to know this new family that God truly has very specially picked out. I have no doubt in my mind that God called me to this specific squad and the impact that we will make together as a team is going to move mountains. God is going to do huge things on this mission trip, and even after we get back to the states. For now I’m just counting down the days until we are all together again in Georgia for launch to go on this journey together.
