Many of you already know this, but I am privileged to be on tour with Compassion International. For the past two weeks, I have been a road representative on their Rock and Worship Roadshow tour, which continues until the end of March. Compassion works through the local church in communities of developing countries and helps children receive medical care, nutrition, proper hygiene, education, mentoring, and most important they will hear about Jesus Christ. And praise God, we have already seen almost 2000 children sponsored.
I’ll give you a taste of what my life is like on this tour: We usually start the day at around 8am. We do a walk-through of the arena, get breakfast, and then start setting up our Compassion tables. The meals are very interesting. You get to see these big-time Christian artists behind the scenes. In seeing them interact with others, you learn who seem genuine and you learn who seem to be the divas. Quite eye opening, but I digress. On each Compassion table, we will set out children that others can sponsor from communities Compassion helps. Volunteers roll in a bit before the concert, and then the other road representative, Eric and I will train volunteers on how to run the tables. After the concert, we thank volunteers and will “load out,” which means we pack up and load our supplies on the trailers. I’ll shower and then we count the sponsorships on the bus. We discuss what worked, what didn’t, and how we could improve the next day. About that time, it’s after 1am and we will all head to bed.
As I roll into my bus bunk at the end of the day, I thank God for the children sponsored, the friendships made, and the lessons learned. I am exhausted and I know that in a few hours we will be doing it all over again at the next city arena. But I smile. I am at peace and fulfilled, knowing I had a small part in over 2000 children in developing countries being released from poverty in Jesus’ name. I then think about the World Race and how I will be feeling the same feelings coupled with some feelings I’ve never felt before. The closer I get to our launch date (the end of June), the more I crave to be with my team serving overseas. We will be the hands, feet, and mouthpiece of Jesus, spreading the Gospel and God’s love to the nations we visit.
Oh that everyday I would lay down my head exhausted for the Gospel. Not just on tour, not just in the World Race, but every single day.
Prayer Requests:
#1 Pray that many children will be sponsored long-term. I desire to see my own generation and the next generation changed for Christ. Not just here in America but across the globe.
#2 One of my friends on the tour has pink eye so pray for quick healing and that it will be a solo experience.
#3 I have only raised 2% of my funds for the Race. God has given me a peace that the funds will be raised, but that doesn’t mean I sweat sometimes knowing I’ve only raised $325 (half of which came from my own pocket). But I am very thankful for the 2 supporters whom have given. I could use your support and help in connecting people who would be interested in supporting. The financial deadline is fast approaching.
Thank you, thank you, thank you again for your prayers and support. I will be updating this blog a lot more this month. So subscribe and stay tuned! 🙂
