Dearest Gabriella,
You were such a surprise.
The first day I walked into a place I didn’t know, surrounded by people I didn’t know, you found me. You threw your arms around me and you held on tight.
You stuck close by whenever you could and you wanted my attention.
I was never a stranger to you. You chose to love me and you didn’t even know me.
You are 8 years old and exemplify the heart of Jesus. I don’t know if you even knew you were doing it, but I don’t want you to stop doing it.
You reminded me, so I want to remind you of this:
When you’re in a place you don’t know, surrounded by people you don’t know, talk to Jesus. He will throw His arms around you and hold you tight. He will stick close by and whenever you have time for Him, He will make time for you and give you his undivided attention. He loves you and knows everything about you.
Thank you for the countless hugs and the chance to give you piggy back rides to class. You brought laughter and joy to an experience that could have been tough for me. As I was there to teach you my language, you ended up teaching me so much more of yours. Your willingness to try to speak through the language barrier was bold and courageous. It has encouraged me to continue to learn more of yours.
I cheered you on when you tried endless attempts at throwing the basketball through the hoop. Failure didn’t kill your joy! Frustration didn’t steal your smile.
I was reassured through this that you, oh little one, will be okay!
I want to live out life the way you have shown me.
My prayer for you is that you come to know Jesus as someone special like I have, someone you can have a relationship with. That He will stir up in you a spirit of love and growth in the years to come. That failure doesn’t keep you from trying to succeed. That you always choose joy! I pray that your family and friends see your value the way I do. You are a sweet daughter and good friend.
Te extranare,
(I’ll miss you)
P.s I’m glad you insisted on taking ‘photos
