We are finishing up our time at Colonial Quinonez.

A small school in Santa Ana.
A school of 200 kids, 4 years old to 9th grade.
They have 2 uniforms, either school dress or gym dress.

The school days here are short.
Kids either go to school in the morning, or afternoon.
That’s not just this school, that’s for every school.

This school has 2 areas that they can get food.
Chips, candy, fruit, or even sandwiches.
It’s available during recess and the kids love it.

They also LOVE us.

We teach 4-5 English classes every day.
Over the course of 3 weeks they have learned numbers, colors, animals, directions, and basic conversational phrases in English.
Songs are a favorite.

Twister was a close second.

But telephone hit the jackpot.
(Yes, these kids love whispering a word or phrase in each other’s ears. And 9 times out of 10 the final word is not the word we started with)

While we taught English, the other half of our team taught sports classes.

To see the joy on each of these kids faces throughout the day is amazing.
It’s something I expected, but being here has made me feel like a kid again.

Fearless.
always wanting to play and have fun
Curious.
asking a million questions
Gentle.
Too many hugs to count

“Children are a gift from the Lord.

They are a reward from Him.”
