There were things that made us a bit uncomfortable at the beginning. At this point, however, it takes a LOT to faze us, we’ve gotten good at rolling with it (whatever “it” is).
Things We No Longer Blink At:
- Poop/diarrhea/ talking about it (often part of the dinner conversation)
- Naked kids (LITERALLY stark naked kids)
- Breastfeeding in public (hey the kid is hungry)
- Squatty potties
- Bucket showers
- Power outages
- Disappearing shoes
- Cockroaches
- Sharing clothes
- Spray tans (“I can’t tell if it’s a tan or dirt that will not come off.”)
- questionable food
- one shower a week MAYBE
- sharing a shower with 10-50 people
- getting used to see your discarded clothes on a squad mate
- no toilet paper in bathrooms
- paying for bathrooms
- using bar soap for shampoo
- going to multiple stores to find what you need
- getting stared at (ALLL the time)
- Hearing a chicken squawking and knowing it’s what’s for lunch
- The thudding above our heads (“the rat king is at it again.”)
For things we will, and will not, miss go to…
