The turn of the Race! More than halfway done, and onto our last continent, out of southern Asia!

Belize was incredibly different for us. In Asia, there’s a lot of religions we’re not really used to, and different spiritual darkness we felt. Central America actually has a decent amount of Christians, and a lot of Catholics. A lot of them don’t have a relationship with God, though, and aren’t aware of the freedom and activation that comes with it. The scenery was different with EVERYTHING being green, there being such a touristy vibe, and it’s all about the beach!

I was with 2 teams at a base with a woman who hosts missionaries all the time. It was such a fun area with a sandpit, volleyball court, and we lived in bungalows. She loved us so well. She made us pancakes, banana bread, macaroni and cheese, and arranged trips to the beach for us. She is from Washington state, so we got a little taste of home!

Ministry was a lot of manual labor, which I thrive in! I got to help the boys build an awning and a new basketball hoop, and we painted a house for healing adults dealing with substance abuse, mental illness, and incarceration. We held parties for girls and staff at a girls’ orphanage, and it was incredibly fun. We know how to throw a party! We lived right next to a park, and one of my favorite days was when we walked down the streets and just told people we were holding an event for kids at the park. An hour later, we had parents and kids from the neighborhood flood into the park and surround us on a stage. We played games, sang songs, gave candy, and did a skit for them. The kids’ programs we put on are incredibly fruitful.

We had to be incredibly flexible that month, and just be ready in the morning to go anywhere or do anything we were told. It was definitely a month of growth in mission and reminding ourselves that it’s about the Kingdom; not us!
