GROUNDBREAKING women.
realizing more and more the power in this platform and my ability to story tell. sharing stories. sharing lives. using my voice to lift the unheard and unseen.
god, may these words mean something, may they lift women to the heavens.
sitting and listening and breaking. holy spirit in me hurting and celebrating with the holy spirit in these women.
Haitian women. demanding my respect without saying a word. Hospitable, empowering, dignified, wise. Teaching me what womanhood and motherhood looks like, truly shaping me more than I could ever shape them.
something different about the women around the world
Things at home that I’d find demeaning are transforming into empowerment and respect.
The sacrifice of motherhood,
naturally breaking bodies to raise the upcoming generation
in their boxed concrete homes, if they have one
sacrificing dreams and meals
never getting a break,
but rejoicing in that.
Strong,
effortlessly balancing everything they carry on their head
balancing 5 gallon jugs of water for miles
stepping with dignity
as they carry an overwhelming amount of food
all day with the strength in their necks
in Haiti heat,
but this is life, normal and simple,
just thanking God that they have purpose and an income.
Perseverance,
women that don’t complain but accept
weary but giving up isn’t an option.
Suffering,
overwhelming heartbreak and grief
in magnitudes that I could never comprehend
Learning what it looks like to suffer well through them
Faithfulness,
turning to God
whether food comes for the day or not
an expectant faith.
This is Groundbreaking Beauty.
These words don’t touch the reality of life here.
met a woman today, living with 14 people (8 kids of her own, daughters 2 babies, 3 neighborhood kids that she took in)
Gasped as her explained this to us, her response was,
“Praise, by the grace of God”
handwashed the families laundry with her for two hours, normally takes her the entire day. leaning over a bucket with a bar of soap, scrubbing till our hands were raw. just simple and strangely empowering.
just want to sit at their feet and listen all day long for the rest of my life.
thankful for every world that crosses with mine.
FUNDRAISING UPDATE!
I leave for Haiti in 3 days, wild. Bostwana is next.
my deadline is in a month, the money tangibly provides every plate of food, every ticket, gas money, place to sleep- all of it.
every dollar keeps me alive.
god bless and thank you for getting me this far.
