HEY PEOPLE
Next year, in September I will be embarking on The World Race, which is a missional gap year through a christian program known as, Adventures in Missions. Over the course of 9 months I will be traveling to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Botswana, South Africa, and the Philippines to work, serve, witness, love, heal, learn, and grow in Christ. YES, this is happening.
While on this journey, I will be serving and simply loving the people I meet. Some day’s our hosts will have us work in the orphanages, and love on the kiddos. Other times we will be doing laborious work which may consist of digging wells for the locals. We also will be walking through the villages asking to pray for the people we see. Every day on the race looks different.
Over the course of my life, I have fallen in love with the idea of mission. God calls his followers to joyfully sacrifice and love His “forgotten” people in the developing nations. God doesn’t forget about the marginalized, therefore I should not either. The Lord has persistently put this calling to love and walk with His people on my heart. Within the past couple of years, the Lord has continually made it clear time and time again that He is calling me to a life of mission. This past summer the topic of college began to rise and I felt overwhelmed and lost. I felt rushed and pressured to go to college, simply because that is the norm after high school. One night at church the pastor preached about learning to listen and respond to God’s callings of guidance. After the sermon, a woman walked up to me and said “I know this might sound insane, but as I was watching you worship God put a message on my heart that he is calling you to adventure. He wants you to trust him and do what will push you spiritually.” His plan for me starts with the World Race. For a long time, I had no clue what this “calling” meant. I battle with the idea that I am not cut out for such greatness or that I am “too young” to respond to this calling, but He has shown me that there is no age limit or qualification to be a follower of Jesus.
You also can take part in bringing God’s kingdom to the nations. In order to go on the World Race I need to fundraise $14,971. From a human perspective that number is overwhelming, but God reminds us that He has no cap, no limit, no price tag. He gives us money out of his goodness and generosity. This message has been pressed on my heart as I have stepped into fundraising. This money will fully fund my trip but more importantly, it will give me the opportunity to serve as Christ serves and love as He loves. You have the power to directly touch the heart of someone across the world, how cool is that. By praying with me, and/or giving financially, you are brought into God’s mission.
thank you for taking the time to read this!!!!!!!
