A big part of our ministry in Chile was teaching English and religion classes. Throughout the month we watched the kids practice different cultural dances as they prepared for a big fiesta on September 1st. The kids, both younger and older, kept asking us if we would be staying for the fiesta. It was obvious they hoped we would be there since they would giggle and ask anticipating the answer of yes. It definitely was a blessing to be able to attend and to watch them perform the dances they worked so hard for.
Unfortunately, I didn’t record much of the dances, that would have made for a LONG video. But I did get some good video of the food we ate. Tom and I made it a goal to share everything that was being cooked there. This vid was taken inside the school and includes me and my team eating a lot of cheap and awesome food along with some of the kids we built relationships within the school (including our host’s kids).
We definitely left the fiesta with full bellies. In Chile they have a saying: “Guadita llena, corazon contenta.” Full stomach, happy heart.
