Remember in January 2015 when I went on the World Race? Well…I’m going back on the World Race for 4 months as an Alumni Team Leader in January 2020.
I will be on the Race for the first 4 months of my squad’s 11-month journey and will lead a team of 5 – 7 people.
This has been prayed over for months and I feel so much confirmation from the Lord on this next step.
I will be quitting my job with Adventures in Missions at the end of December. I will have 9 days of training toward the beginning of January and will leave the USA immediately after that.
Here’s a summary of the details…
Who: Me & E Squad
What Exactly Am I Doing: As an Alumni Team Leader, I will journey alongside a team of 5-7 people as we live in the mindset “Life is Ministry; Ministry is Life.” Everywhere we turn are opportunities to love people into the Kingdom with our words and actions.
Why am I Doing This: As you know, my heart is on fire for the 10/40 window hearing the Gospel. I am so excited to walk alongside a new squad of Racers as we go to the nations for the sake of Jesus’ name – places where people have never heard His name before.
Over the past 5 years since I began my journey with the World Race and Adventures in Mission, I’ve learned, grown, and walked through a lot. It’s changed the way I think about and live in ministry. I’m excited to have the opportunity to solidify some of that learning and lead my team into things I’ve already walked through. They can get the most out of the Race AND be used more readily by the Lord.
With Alumni Team Leading, I have the opportunity to make my ceiling their floor. They can learn from me, perhaps take a different path, and we can process it all together.
(I will be leading one of these teams)
When I went on the Race, my Team Leaders had never done the Race. Though they were AMAZING leaders, they were walking through some of the same things as me. Being an Alumni Team Leader, I already know a lot about what to expect. Of course I will still learn, grow, and be challenged, but there are things I can give away because I’ve already walked through them.
Over the past couple of years, there’s been more focus on mission and culture training for those going on the World Race. I’ve seen first-hand how it can change the ministry we do and the life we live. It’s created a newfound excitement and support for Short Term Mission trips. I think we have a unique opportunity to share the Gospel with people in a context that makes sense to their specific culture.
Where am I Going: I am traveling for the first 4 months of their 11-month journey. I will be traveling to Australia, Indonesia, India, and Nepal.
What Else: To be on the World Race for 4 months, I need to raise $5500 by January 2020. I am looking for monthly and single gifts to fulfill this need.
I would love to talk to you more about this and share my heart for why I’m making such a drastic change in my life. I would prefer to talk on the phone or face-to-face.
