Hello again from Medellin Colombia,

It’s currently storming out right now. Rainy with a crisp breeze, thunder & lightning! Some might say it’s a gloomy day but me? No no my friend. I’d say the opposite. Stormy days make my heart so full. As I was thinking about that I was reminded of something. Back in Asia I was journaling about my last 4 months of the race and what I wanted out of it. I remember some of the little things I was asking God for. I asked him for more mountains, chilly beautiful weather, cold weather, & storms.

Here in Medellin, we are in a city in a valley that is surrounded by 3 different mountain chains! (Wooo, there was just a very big & loud thunder. Praise! I’m in my element!)

Okay so the mountains that run through Medellin are: Andes, Rockies, and Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. So more mountains? CHECK

Medellin, Colombia is known as the “Eternal Spring” because of it’s beautiful weather all year round. Since being here I’ve been able to wear flannels and long sleeves because with the overcast- the breeze get’s chilly.

So chilly beautiful weather? CHECK

Cold weather?….yeah it’s coming in the next countries we will be going to soooo i’ll take that as another CHECK.

Storms? Well … Check Check Checkity CHECK CHECK because it’s stormed practically every day since we’ve gotten here and I looooooove it!

I share all this to say that I think it’s pretty neat that God cares about the little details/desires of our hearts. He doesn’t miss a thing. And I am so thankful.

“what is mankind that you are mindful of them”- Psalm 8:4

So yeah, just wanted to share that since it was on my mind on this stormy Sunday afternoon 🙂

Little update on what we are doing. My team & I are currently staying on the 3rd floor of a safe home. On the 1st & 2nd floor is a safe home for boys & girls and each day we take turns spending the day with them. Helping them with homework, get them ready for school, do bible studies, games, take them to the park, etc.

I sadly kinda only have had one day with them so far and it was cut short because I sort of collapsed haha. When I was helping in the kitchen out of nowhere my body started to feel weird, I felt sick and so I sat down but it got worse. Couldn’t really move my body or keep my eyes open, my teammate Amanda was with me and she said my face got ghostly white and I was sweating. So she began to carry me upstairs but then a guy ended up taking me the rest of the way. A group of people brought me to my room and elevated my legs and prayed for me. A bit later I got my blood pressure/heart rate taken I believe and they said it was very low so I had to rest the rest of the day. It was pretty scary in the moment because I didn’t know what was happening and I’ve never really had that happen to me- I’m assuming it’s from the altitude and my body adjusting to it. Because earlier that day I did go to a park with the kids and it was a little hike up steep roads- guess my body wasn’t ready for it hahha.

BUT BESIDES THAT- I am absolutely loving Colombia. Where we are staying- it’s like a big family. They feed us so well! Yummy food! And last night we actually had a movie night all together and it was so fun. How much interaction we have with our hosts definitely makes the month a totally different experience. When we have hosts that are super interactive and we see them almost every day- it makes it feel like a family and it makes the month so sweet.

So that’s it for now!! Till next time!

Love, T
