Why do the World Race?

I’ve been trying to find the words to try and explain my reasoning for doing the World Race, but I haven’t been able to find any besides that I know this is God’s calling for me.

For me, it is the easy. I applied to the World Race the same time I was applying to many other organizations, for example Teach For America. I prayed while applying to a handful of organizations that God would take my life and place it right where he wanted me to be. I got denied by many of the places I applied for but was accepted to the World Race. The was my first sign. I prayed the entire night prior to when I officially accepted that I would know this is where I needed to be. I woke up the next morning with a heart full of joy. That’s how I knew, “Why the World Race?”, because that’s where God wants/needs me.

But it’s not that simple for others. They ask other questions.

That’s an entire year, are you not afraid to leave for that long?

What do you get out of it?

Are you going just to travel?

And to answer those questions, yes I am nervous about being away from my friends and family for an entire year, but it is just a year. I have this great opportunity to spread God’s love around the world for eleven months, eleven months to dive into his word every single day, with my squad and the people I am so excited to meet in every country I visit. That year will go by just as fast as every other year I’ve lived.

What do I get out of it? I get to do something I love, not only do I love helping others, I love my Jesus. Teaching people about the Lord is so fun, and I get to do that everyday during the World Race. Plus I get to explore so many places and cultures I’ve never seen, which I am sure will teach me so much. The World Race is also a place for me to grow in my faith, I’ll have an amazing community from my squad and I am 110% sure they will challenge me to grow every single day. Also I get to meet my squad, which I am beyond excited to grow amazing friendships with them.

Are you going just to travel? I will be honest, I’ve never been outside of the United States, not even to Canada. So a huge perk of doing the World Race for me is to travel. But no I am not going just to travel. The World Race is about God, and sharing his love through his story, and my story.

The World Race will be challenging, but so rewarding. If you have anymore questions regarding my trip, I am so open to answering them!
