Tonight, I danced on a rooftop under the stars with the Love of my life.

Jesus truly is becoming more and more the Lover of my soul.

A long time ago, I learned that everyone has a special place where they can meet God, like a garden. I remember asking Him to show me my garden. After some time, I finally saw it. It was like the grandest of ballrooms- soaring ceilings, ornate decor and a massive chandelier. This “garden” spoke right to my heart.

As a little girl, I always loved the idea of ballroom dancing. I wanted to learn SO BAD. I used to dance with my daddy all the time, and it was my favorite thing. Honestly, its still my favorite thing I do with him.

Once I was in high school, I had the opportunity to learn how to ballroom dance and I jumped at the opportunity. Ever since then, my love for ballroom has always stayed, even if I didn’t always have a guy to dance with. In fact, I’m pretty sure that I have danced more alone than I have with a partner. I never really cared how silly it looked.

If ballroom dancing were a love language, I seriously believe that would be mine.

I LOVE it. This is a God given love. I always thought of it as just something He gave me an affinity for, but I never realized the real reason He gave me this desire- to show Him love- until tonight.

I’ve always been so intrigued with people who worship in dance. But actually dancing during worship can, at least for me, come with a lot of insecurities. Fear of what people think… Oh, pride. Tonight I experienced a measure of freedom in that area, and I danced with Jesus. It was SO FUN. and it made me so happy and it just filled my heart and soul. He showed me His love In a deeper way through this… Because of what I equate dancing to in my relationship with my dad and my dreams for my future relationship, it had a powerful impact on me. This one line in a particular worship song just keeps impacting me lately: You could love me more in a moment than other lovers could in a lifetime.

A MOMENT. His love is so deep and immeasurable and life changing. I love having love encounters with Him. It changes a person every time. I want to have love encounters every day with Him.

Because of these experiences I’ve had, I’ve learned a lot from Him about His love. I was asking Him to give me words to share His love with others, and this is what I have for you:

God’s love for you is insurmountable. His love is the foundation for everything. When you experience God’s love, it changes you from the inside out. You don’t have to be afraid, because you know He will take care of you (Hebrews 13:5-6 and Matthew 6:25-27). There’s no fear in His love (1 Timothy- Perfect love casts out all fear). You don’t have to question who you are or feel ashamed of your past, because His love has made you perfect. Perfect. His love washes away your sins (Hebrews 10:14). You can have confidence in His love, and this gives you your identity as a son or daughter- princess or prince- of the King. Because He loved you, He sent His only son to die for you, so that you could have the chance to spend all of eternity with your Creator. He was thinking of you and how much He loves you. Love is what closes the gap between you and God. God loves you so much that He has already forgiven you for your sins. He has made you as His own and made you clean- He made you new. He’s turned your scars into beautiful stories that show his forgiveness, grace and redemption. Jesus loves you more than anyone else ever could, and He knows you better than anyone ever will be able to, because He MADE you. He knows everything about you, the good the bad and the things about yourself that you think are hard to love, or even impossible to love. He knows your past, and all the things you think could keep Him from accepting you. But the good news is that even though He sees all of it, all of you- He still accepts you, loves you and forgives you. You are His perfect child. Perfect. Without spot or blemish. And you’re His deserving child, too. You deserve everything, including all of His love.

His love is so amazing, and the best feeling in the world is when His love fills my heart to overflowing. It makes me want to worship Him all the time. Dancing is a great form of worship, and something that I am desiring to grow more in. Please pray for me that I will continue to grow in this area. And my prayer for you is that you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is (Ephesians 3:18).

God bless you. 🙂
