1. Be ready to learn to live without a schedule… be flexible because honestly, that’s in your best interest. 😉

2. Don’t waste time bringing a hair dryer. Or cute clothes. Or makeup. You won’t need it and you won’t have time to use it. But there’s a beauty in simplicity, and you will discover that rather quickly.

3. Get ready to not be comfortable, in every way. Embrace it because in the discomfort, you see yourself and life in a new way and it will change you.

4. You’ll come back with an entirely new perspective on what’s a comfortable sleeping arrangement, what good food is, and how being clean is not the end of the world. (I really learned a lot with that one…I was a champ and had a bucket shower every day for the first 6 days- then, I gave up).

5. You’ll make some incredible friendships in record time and know instantly that these bonds will last a lifetime.

6. You gain a new family. A huge, wonderful new family that will grow with you, support you, challenge you and love you deeply and without strings.

7. Prayer is a culture, a way of life, for racers. This is a good introduction to that. 🙂

8. You will be forever wrecked for the ordinary.

9. You’ll surprise yourself with how much you can handle. More than likely by the time training is over, you will see yourself in a new light.

10. Bring an eno- keep it in your day pack. Bring ear plugs. Bring a headlamp. And bring a spork. Yes, a spork. It will serve you well.

11. Prepare yourself to come back with a new outlook on life and a heart full. The time between training and launch is very bittersweet- embrace it.

Training will change you. And if training can change you as quickly as a week, I can only imagine what the Race will do. Yay!!!
