This month my team is doing what is called ATL month. Which means Ask The Lord.
Our goal is to literally ask God where He wants us to go and then to go there.
One night we decided to make some meals and give them out to the homeless and hungry.
As we were preparing to go out I was suddenly hit with the question of why I had never participated in anything like this before.
I have had a huge heart to meet the needs of people all around the world but why had I never done this before? Why did I feel the need to travel to another country to love on people in need.
I know God has called me here and its such a privilege to be able to love on these people here in Guatemala, but there are also so many people all around the world, including America that are waiting to be shown the love of Jesus.
We have been invited to be a part of the work of Christ, to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Lets not get so busy with our lives that we cant make time to give the hungry a warm meal. Or whatever it looks like for you. Be open to Jesus and go where He asks you.
Its not just a good deed, its being Jesus and bringing love and joy to people.
Maria is one of the ladies we gave a meal to the other night, as soon as we handed her the most simple meal of rice and beans, I had never seen a bigger smile or more grateful heart. I believe in that moment that Maria got a glimpse of Jesus. How? Because he lives in me and I got to be a vessel for him.
Im telling you, it will bless you as much or more than the people you are loving on.
We are on this earth to love and serve Christ. I don’t want to miss out on loving the least of these. No matter what country I’m in.
Jesus, please help me see the opportunities, big or small to be you to people. Give me your eyes and your love for those around me. Thank you for letting me be your hands and feet.
