Dear Family and Friends,
Growing up in a Christian home I have always believed in God, but recently I have found out just how real He truly is. My walk of faith has been a real roller coaster ride. My life has been full of temptation, regrets, fear, depression, anxiety, and so much more. Like any other person who has gone through temptation I have fallen on my face time and time again, but somehow I always find a way to get back on my feet. Over the years I have realized that the “somehow” has always been God.
I have always been a pretty shy person who has lacked confidence. Being constantly unhappy with myself and fearing others was something I lived with everyday. I was constantly searching for my identity, but continuously falling short. Within the past year I was in a time in my life that I had become so broken, I didn’t know how to function. At this point I decided that there was nothing more I could do other than surrender my life over to the Lord. I began prayer journaling constantly and becoming boldly honest with God about everything I was feeling. This went on for months, and over this time period God gave me strength, courage, and confidence. He gave me strength to stand on my feet and pull myself together, the courage to know that my past mistakes do not define me, and the confidence to know that I am fearfully and wonderfully made by the creator of Heaven and Earth, and for that reason alone I am beautiful! I came to the realization that if God is for me, who could be against me?
I believe that the opportunity to attend the World Race is just the beginning of the amazing plans that God has in store for me. Being the shy homebody that I am, I never in my wildest dreams would have expected to even think of attending anything where I would have to leave my family for more than a week, but now that it is in the picture I could not feel more confident about it! The peace of mind and passion I have for this mission is my constant reassurance that this is what God is calling me to do!
I will be attending the 2016 Gap year World Race. This is a 9-month mission trip where I will spend 3 months in 3 different countries including: Thailand, Malawi, and Guatemala. My 9-month journey will begin in October when I will have the chance to spread the love of Jesus Christ by working with orphans, teaching English, planting churches, ministering to those trapped in prostitution due to human trafficking, and many other things while spreading the word of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our loving Savior!
So, I write this letter in hopes that you will partner with me in support during my journey. I am humbly asking that you would consider partnering with me in prayer, and if able partnering with me financially. The total cost of my trip is $13,805. That covers all of my airfare, land travel, lodging, and food for the entire trip. Any amount given is helpful, and n amount is too small!
The following are my payment deadlines:
- $5,000 – Due 7/22/2016 (Most important deadline to meet)
- $10,000 – Due 9/16/2016
- $13,805 – Due 1/31/2017
