So there I am, taking a shower (with HOT water yall) and I hear the rain. Usually, I love the rain. But not this time. Because I left my clean clothes on the line outside. I should have known better by now, which got me thinking about all the things I have learned from the struggles we have faced since I’ve been on the race.

  1. Peanut butter and Nutella is life giving.
  2. how to keep a straight face when you learn someone is sick for the hundreth time (@Kevin Crow)
  3. It’s easier to pretend it is mud and not poop.
  4. Don’t wait till the end of the month to start pouring into people. Start day one.
  5. On any given Tuesday, you might end up with snot rockets or butt crusties on you from kids ministry. Don’t fight it.
  6. God will obviously perform huge miracles, but look for Him in the small things too.
  7. Always fight for the single bed.
  8. Don’t ask what it is- just eat it.
  9. Wearing the same shirt three days in a row is perfectly acceptable.
  10. On the flip side of that, its worth the $10 to send your clothes to a laundry mat.
  11. You do a lot of hurrying up to wait on the race.
  12. The most essential thing in your daypack is toilet paper.
  13. If it is poop related, embrace it, then blog about it.
  14. The race is not the place to quit your coffee addiction.
  15. Save the drama for your mama- we don’t want it here.

Of course I have learned so much more than what I just listed here. I’ve learned how much God loves me. I’ve learned how good He really is. I’ve learned I have the best teammates a girl could ask for. I’ve been gone for three months, and the Lord has been showing me so much, and I’m so excited to see what He has in store for the next eight months.
