8By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. 9By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.
Hebrews 11:8-9
Here is my first blog post as a soon to be World Racer! First things first let me explain what the World Race is. It is a 11 month mission trip, where I will be going to 11 different countries. It is through an organization called Adventures in Missions. It has been sending young adults & adults out into the world to spread the word and love of God all around the world since 2006. I will be spending one month in each country, before finding your new home in a different country. I’ll be leaving The United States behind for a year, and leaving the comfort of home everything else behind to serve others. During the 11 months that I am going to be gone I will begin in Uganda, then travel to Rwanda, Ethiopia, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Guatemala, Honduras, and finishing up in Nicaragua.
I am working to help get me to and from training camp, the launch, gear, travel from country to country, support to the local mission, food, medications and the vaccinations that I am required to have to go on the mission trip. I will need to raise $16,267, where there are financial deadlines that I am required to meet. I know that the Lord will provide, if it is in his will than it is just up to us to comply with his will. From monthly donations to a one-time donation, every single dollar counts. No donation is too big, or too small. It all adds up!
I have such an intense flame burning inside of me. It is an unexplainable push towards something that I signed up for knowing so little about. Yet, at the same time I am confident as to where God is calling me to be. I knew that my months of praying to God for him to take me where I am supposed to go, lead me, to shape and mold me into He wants me to be. He has completely flipped my life around – for the better. Everything that I thought I had figured out and the rest of my life was planned and ready to go once I graduated completely changed. These last few months has been about trusting God despite the loss and confusion I was feeling. Yet, with every emotion that I was feeling, I felt such a renewed sense of purpose, peace, and love from the most unexpected people around me. I am not saying that since God has called me to go on the World race that my life has not had its ups and downs – because it has. But because of His awesome plan for my life, I am so excited to see where he plans to take me, and the lives that I get to be a part of and change. I am excited to use my gifts that I have been given to his benefit and to build His kingdom!
The flame that burns inside of me, it burns so brightly that even my fears are laid to rest because I know that he will be with me, and the Holy Spirit inside of me with every step I take in these new and foreign lands. This is all his will.
13You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh ; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Galatians 5:13
