Hello all you lovely people! A couple weeks ago I went to Montana with a group of cool people from my church and some other places, for a missions trip. We went and served on the Crow Native American Reservation during a big powwow. Such a great experience.
One of the days we were painting this lady’s trailer and I was just feeling a little frustrated because we hadn’t even really met her yet. Building relationship is more important than getting a task done, but it wasn’t looking like any relationship would be built by this task.
While we were painting I noticed a girl walking by. At first I didn’t think anything of it but then I felt God nudging me to speak to her, so a few of us went to go talk to her. At first she was really closed off and didn’t seem like she wanted to talk, but I knew she did so we just kept standing there and listening. Finally, I think she realized we actually did care about what she had to say and wouldn’t leave so she opened up.
We talked to her for probably an hour. If I’m being honest it was never this big moment where she accepted Jesus or got freedom or even cried. All she did was just tell us crazy drama in her life. It was all stuff that she probably couldn’t share with others on the res. because it would create more drama or people would have some opinion on it. I think because we were outsiders it really allowed her just to be heard. By the end she looked so relieved. The whole mood had changed and whatever weight was there had been lifted.
I was asking God what that moment meant and he just showed me how beautiful it really was. I understand God’s love even more because of it. Really every part of it is proof of his great unconditional love for us. He loved her enough to send a group of people from Oregon all the way to her in Montana just to listen to her.
Of course more happened on the trip, but that moment had the biggest impact on me. It really just showed me that God cares about us even in the little ways. The things that we think are too insignificant or too unimportant to him aren’t! He knew that she needed people to just listen and so he sent us. That’s a crazy special love!
Also I leave in 2 days for this trip!!!! AHHH YAY!!! As of right now I am 82.07% funded! WOO! Thank y’all and thank God! More funds are still needed but I don’t need to be fully funded until October. Please pray about partnering with me either through prayer or funds! Both are greatly appreciated. Talk to ya soon!
