One of my big prayers for the Race:
God, show me what I’m supposed to do with my life. Whatever you ask me to do or wherever you ask me to go, I will follow You.
I came to the realization that not everyone is as passionate about business as I am when I started to talk about micro-loans with my team…the whole time I was wondering why they weren’t more interested in this fascinating topic (not kidding).
Don’t worry, I won’t bore you with the details in this blog..I’ve learned my lesson haha. BUT, if you wanna hear more..email me at

All throughout college I was torn about what to major in. I spent my first 2 and a half years as an Accounting major. Mostly because I wanted to make a lot of money so I wouldn’t have to rely on anyone else to provide for me. I was constantly questioning this choice though. When I took my first non-basic accounting class, I knew within the first 2 class periods that this was not the path that God had for me. I couldn’t pay attention in class and I had no desire to do any of the work. I prayed a lot and decided to change my major.
I began to pray things like:
-Why did I waste 2 and a half years of classes on Accounting when this doesn’t feel like your plan?
-God why have you called me to missions and given me a passion and talent for business?
-How can you possibly use a business degree for international missions? (HA, God laughs at my prayers sometimes)
-If not accounting, then what should I pursue to fulfill your purpose?
After a lot of prayer I decided to change my major to International Business.
(I was even able to apply all of the classes that I had previously taken towards this degree!)
Through working with CVI (our ministry partner for Uganda), God is showing me that He has a plan for my business degree in International Missions. I have seen my passion for women to break the cycle of poverty flourish here. I’ve been able to speak with their business teacher about ways to improve the curriculum and even talked about creating a business strategy game so the women here can get hands on experience in running a business before leaving the center.
So many of the girls leave here and don’t reach their full potential because they don’t know how to actually run a business. They are talented and passionate about their trade, but don’t know how to actually make and save money. I want so badly to help them become sustainable and see them take pride in their ability to provide for their family.
I still have no idea what this looks like after the race, but I’m excited that God is starting to reveal His plan for me.
Love always,
Taylor
