It is Christmas Eve in Pretoria, South Africa. I am with the 41 other racers you just saw in the video at a house owned by missionaries with Dream Africa. We have athletic socks hung by the fireplace with care next to our Christmas tree made out of large buckets.
Each team will be having Secret Santa with ours being on a 200 Rand budget (20 USD).
We made a list of what we would like, from new headphones to nail polish to iTunes gift cards.
Our favorite dishes, traditions, and desserts have been requested to our chefs. I hear “Qumors” (rumors within Q-squad) of cinnamon rolls for breakfast, ham, turkey, macaroni and cheese, a funfetti Jesus cake, and lots of other goodies!
I will be going to a squatter camp in an area called Mamelodi on Christmas morning with a few other girls on the squad. It will be my first time attending church on Christmas. One of our contacts here, Louie, will be marrying a couple there. Yay for African weddings!
For the rest of the day, Team Change has plans to open presents, throw the frisbee (we don’t have a football), have photo shoots, make cookies, sing Christmas carols, watch classic movies, and hang out with the squad. There will be a comical skit, sacrificial gift exchange, and candle light service.
Even if we are on the other side of the globe, we hope to make this holiday just as special as they have been previously.
In order to make this Christmas even better, I am asking for your help. For me to be able to stay on the field for the next 5 months, I need $2,425.
My prayer is that God will put it on your heart to donate whatever amount you feel led to so that I will be able to continue ministry. There is so much more the Lord wants to show me in India, Nepal, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
Will you help me get there?

*Don’t forget, this will be a tax deductible donation. If you donate before December 31 you will be able to count this towards taxes for 2013.
Thank you all!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
