Vietnam… I’ve never been before, but in December of 2017, I hope to be spending my Christmas there. It is an exciting and uncomfortable feeling all at once. The adventure that I crave backed with the uncertainty of a new culture and being away from familiar family/friend traditions. I remember spending Christmas in Nepal a few years ago when I was on a three month missions trip overseas. This time, Vietnam will be only one of eleven countries for me on this new adventure.
If you haven’t heard yet, I’ve been accepted to go on The World Race! Over a span of eleven months I will be traveling to India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. A month will be spent in each country with the purpose of serving “the least of these”.
After God took me on a journey to the Himalayas in 2012, I knew He would call me overseas again. However, I never imagined He would call me to 11 places all at once! The Lord really knows how to dream BIG. I kept thinking, “Are you sure, God? Are you SURE you want to send ME on this trip?” Before I even accepted the thought of going, the enemy was raising doubt in me. I’ll admit, it took me a long time to buckle my faith down and just put the application in. Then came the acceptance.
Who was I to question Him? He had already blown my expectations away with the places He would take me, the ways He would change me, and the things He would show me when He provided me a way to Nepal. Now, sitting at home looking at the lighted tree, I’m dreaming of Christmas in Vietnam. The team of people that I will be going with is growing, and they are from all over! Our adventure is set to begin August 3rd, 2017. Our homecoming will be in July of 2018.
To make this possible, I will need to raise the sufficient funds for airfare, ground travel, and living expenses over my eleven month time span. I have a current goal of $17,617 to reach.
