We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this
mission trip. Here go’s
I AM EXPECTING GOD!!!!!!!!!
I have been thinking about what to write for this blog and nothing has overtaken me until now. What I expect from this trip is GOD! Plain and simple, although the funny thing about that is that God is never just plain and simple. God is love, He is Jesus Christ, He is the Holy Spirit, He is sovereign, He is grace, He is faithful, He is covenant, He is angry at sin, He is Joy, He is my Teacher, He IS MY LORD!
I expect God to comfort the widows through our touch, heal the sick through our prayers, deliver the good Word through our tongues and show His light to the world in ways we cant even begin to imagine.
I expect God to show Himself to me through all of these things and more. I expect to not like what God is doing some of the time and I expect I will love what He is doing others. I expect that God will break me, bring me to a place of complete dependance on Him, I expect that my heart will cry out in pain, hunger for more of Him, joy and love and He, our Father, will fulfill ALL of it.
I expect my God to be my God, whatever that may look like, wherever that may be or however that may feel. At the end of the day I expect a lot, but one thing that I KNOW is my God is faithful and no matter what my expectations are or how they play out, Christ will be there through it all. I am so confident that my God has called me to His nations and though I am human and can expect much, the one expectation that I can hold tight to is that GOD will be in every moment of this journey!
“…AS IT IS MY EAGER EXPECTATION AND HOPE THAT I WILL NOT BE AT ALL ASHAMED, BUT THAT WITH FULL COURAGE NOW AS ALWAYS CHRIST WILL BE HONORED IN MY BODY, WHETHER BY LIFE OR BY DEATH.”
