I sit here on July 2nd in awe of how fast time
flies! Team Koinonia and three
other teams just spent the past month in Vilanculos, Mozambique or should I
just say “The Bush.” I knew this
month would be a true world race month and for that I prayed like mad…lol. No, but I did ask the Lord to blind me
from the dirt, living conditions, sicknesses, runny noses, etc. Last summer while spending 10 days in
Swazi I was consumed by fear. I
didn’t want to get dirty, I was terrified to be around people with TB or AIDS
and could not get myself to hold a child with pure love.
My favorite little baby girl!!!!!!
I didn’t want that this time, I wanted Gods way and that was
it. Faithfully He answered. Don’t get me wrong it was hard but
amazing. Driving 20 hours in a 15
person van with 18 people, using a hole in the ground for a bathroom or just a
bush in the open sometimes, not showering for 5 days at a time and then just
rinsing with some “who knows what water”, drinking water with worms in it and
killing goats and rabbits for food for a month was really not what consumed me
surprisingly. GOD TRULY ANSEWERED
MY PRAYERS and blinded my eyes to these things. What consumed me this past month was love for the people of
Mozambique! All I wanted to do was
hold the babies and love on these people, there was no fear of sickness, dirt,
etc!
Anna and I going to the Island!
When I left Swazi last summer I wouldn’t have said that
Africa took a piece of my heart, I would’ve told you (some I did tell) I will
be fine if I never go back. Fast
forward to now, I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that Africa has a
piece of my heart…I know that sounds cliché, but its true! I don’t feel called to pack my life up
and move here (take a deep breath MOM J), but I do have a love
for these people that I have never experienced…these people are just different!
My prayer for next month is for God to change my eyes, not blind them for a
period, but amazingly enough I think He is the one that has put that desire in
me!
Typical MIssionaries….God help our fashion sense! we have lost our minds!!!!!!!! LOL
Thank you so much for all your prayers and support! I apologize for the lack of blogging
lately, but “The Bush” does not have great internet access…lol! I will update you more in the next
couple of days, but I wanted to just give you a brief update! I love you all so much and miss you a
ton!
