Wow, we made it to the fourth continent of this journey! Let’s celebrate all the work God has done to get us to this point- including getting the bus that stalled and lost power steering to make it to the airport in Malawi on time. Phew!

If you’d like to bring a little of the Thai experience into your home, here are some of the lessons from our cultural briefing that you could try out:

  1. Greet one another by nodding your head with your hands held in a prayer like pose just below your chin and say “sa-wa-dee-kaaa.”
  2. The head is the most sacred part of the body. You must never touch someone else’s head. And if you are passing through a room of people and there are elders, you must crouch so that your head is not above your elders when walking by.
  3. The soles of your feet are the most detestable part of the body and showing it to someone is equivalent to “flipping them off.” Personally, I find this the most challenging because it means I can never have my feet up on a foot rest. 🙁 And, you can never move something with your feet- like pushing a chair. I’m afraid I’ve been very offensive the past 3 days…

Now, to summarize the ministry work this month in one word: POWERFUL.

To better tell about what we will do, watch this video from our ministry including working in the sex trafficking industry, villages, local Buddhist temples, and more.
