I’ve called many strangers in my life. Calling with a survey, to correct an email address, to order pizza… but making calls around El Salvador is a new one.

Three days ago, my team finally received our assignment for where we would spend our month in El Salvador, and guess what? There is no location, host, or specific ministry! So we booked a hostel in San Salvador and said “Here we go!”
To explain, our assignment is titled “Unsung Heroes” and the job is to seek out people doing good work around the country in order to share their stories and also seek out potential future hosts for the World Race. The month is completely open to God’s plan through our research efforts, connections, and travel. We start in one location, doing research and making calls, and then will travel to a few key contacts to explore what a partnership with them might be. We are basically networking all month- and I am so EXCITED to meet the people doing Kingdom work here. These calls are filled with the potential to change lives and transform communities through increased “hands and feet.” The best calls I’ve ever made.
We just got our first call back from a contact after only 5 emails and 2 calls, and we all had butterflies! (Ok, the guys may not use that terminology.) We will be visiting an orphanage here in the city tomorrow morning! That was quick, eh? (Threw that in for my Canadian teammate, lol.) We are the first team to do Unsung Heroes in this country so the potential for new contacts is HUGE. I feel like it is going to be like wildfire once we are tapped into the local connections.
If any of you readers happen to know people living in El Salvador, please send their name and contact information our way! You can use the contact information located through the sidebar on my blog page- http://taratruitt.theworldrace.org.
Please be in prayer as we navigate the country and seek out these people who deserve more recognition and attention for their humble service. Thank you for reading, and stay tuned!
