One of my first days in England was spent at a Cathedral in St. Albans (outside of London). The story of the St. Alban goes like this:

He was living in England around 200 BC, before Christianity was legalized. England at the time was a Roman colony and was involved in pagan worship.

A Christian preacher came to town and had no place to stay, so St. Albans housed him. Roman authorities quickly found out. St. Albans gave the preacher his Roman robes, which disguised him as a citizen. The preacher escaped.

When Roman officials found out what had happened, execution was one of the only options. They would let St. Albans live if he would bow down to the pagan worship. He boldly declined the offer and became the first recorded martyr in England‘s history.

As I visited the Cathedral, I was lead to the board of prayers. I took some pictures of the prayer requests. This season, please pray for those we do not know and pray for those you dearly love. Here are just some of the prayer requests from the English. May their prayers be burdened on our hearts.

Love you all and do miss you. The race is over half way through and can’t wait to see what else God wants to show us.  I don’t think I can thank you enough for your support and prayers.  It is such a blessing to me.  Don’t quite have the words.

So apparently Merry means drunk in England, so like the English say Happy Christmas.”
