A wise woman named Caitlin Hennessy recently commented about Haiti,
“You see brokenness, I see redemption.”
We came into Haiti expecting to see poverty. Expecting to see destruction. Expecting to see pain. We saw it. We saw the tent cities. We saw the crowded streets and heartbroken souls. We saw Port Au Prince. But we we were overwhelmed by the Beauty and Hope of this country.
Haiti is beautiful. So beautiful.
The people are beautiful. So beautiful.
God is here. God is healing. God is restoring.
We need to stop focusing on the negative where we are and Discover the Beauty.

We came to Haiti with more expectations than I imagined.
We wanted to save, help, heal, build, and feed the people of Haiti.
We came here looking through OUR eyes, wanting to do what WE thought was most important.
Relief Work…Right?? That is the most important thing. Helping in the most “needy” areas.
Did God humble me or what?? I decided I knew what was most important and
God put me in the place where He knew was most important.

We are living at the Canaan Orphanage in Montrouis, about an hour outside of Port-Au-Prince.
We live with 60-70 children. I’m staying in the girls dorm with about 35 other girls. We are here to be a part of life with the kids and people who live here. They have been influenced by the earthquake in some way or another, but influenced far more by being abandoned by their parents. Each child here has a story. I can’t wait to go deeper. This place has three main focuses. God. Education. Medical Center. We are here to be there for the kids, help them draw closer to God, educate them, and just love them. We are teaching them through the curriculum they have here. We are helping with some other work projects and doing filing for the clinic that takes in victims of the earthquake.

Merci Senye!
