As I sit in a cute little restaurant, I dilusionally reminisce about how amazing the Philippines is. Last night, I was blessed to have the night shift with the babies. Woody and I spent 10pm to 6am with the beautiful babies and toddlers. I only got puked on once, but slept over 3 hours…which is more than I expected!!! This place is amazing and I already feel at home with many memories…

I am covered in mud and throwing a shoe at tin can with like 15 other people. We are in the Malaybalay City Jail playing a game with our new friends. I am overwhelmed. We walked through the crowded prison cells and were greeted by smiles and waves. We got to go out in the yard with the women and the minors. I spent time talking with Rosario, an incredible woman with three daughters. Go here to hear her story.
We went by cell #2 with 34 men living crowded together. They wanted to sing us a song. They sang a song in Visayan (the main language on the island of Mindinao). The men then sang one of my favorite songs, “Power of Your Love.” It was one of the most powerful things I have ever seen and heard.
We are blessed to be a part of so many ministries here in Malaybalay, a small town on the island of Mindinao. We are working with four other teams from the World Race here with Kids International Ministries. We are watching the kids 24/7 as well as working with the community, college ministry with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, mentoring, doing construction projects, doing feedings and many other things. There is always something to do. It has been amazing to come alongside this ministry and help continue ministries that they have already started. The Prison Ministry, along with many other things, were developed by a previous World Racer, William Miller, my boyfriend. In essence, this month is already amazing because God is leading our lives and has covered us with his love and given us so many opportunities to serve Him. Praise God. This place is so beautiful and God is here!!!!
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.- 1 Peter 3:8
We are in the Philippines serving God and this community around us, God’s love is leading.
