I woke up and spent time talking to Jesus and reading the word of God.
We were preparing to preach to a bunch of pastor’s and their wives from the neighboring villages.
God gave me some words from His word to share, the Bread of Life.
God gave me bread for Thanksgiving!
In the church, we sang a couple songs and prayed.
Sickness hit me as I sat down. I went outside and sat on the ground.
I was so dizzy and nauseous and exhausted. My whole body hurt and I could barely see.
But I tried to get up because I knew I had bread to share.
I finally stumbled my way back to the church.
As I entered, Pastor Medson Gama was announcing me.
He said, Tara is the leader of this group and she will introduce her team and then preach.
I could barely stand. I had no strength or energy. I had nothing.
God was my strength and energy that day. He gave me everything.
God doesn’t care if you feel like it or you want to, He wants to.
He wants to strengthen, bless, comfort, forgive, and Love.
That is why today was Thanksgiving.
In America, it was thanksgiving, and in Africa; it was THANKSGIVING!
God did His thing, He spoke to those people and touched many lives.
I was able to give the pastors bread for thanksgiving, the Bread of Life!!
I give Him thanks because it was all Him.
As we closed the service and prayed for all the pastor’s, a young man came up to me.
“I need the bread of life. I need the word of God.”
So, I gave him bread for thanksgiving.
David got his first Bible that day.
It was what he had been hungering and thirsting for.
“Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Deut 8:3
We went to Lake Malawi that afternoon for some time of relaxation.
As we gathered around the table, we told each other what we were thankful for.
We spoke of God and His provision and gave each other bread for thanksgiving.
After, we had a lovely meal of burgers or pineapple pancakes!
But food just doesn’t satisfy anymore compared to the word of God.
As I sat, looking at the beautiful waters of Malawi, a woman came up to me.
“I need a Bible because I want to know God more,” she said.
I was able to give her a Bible and sit and read it with her.
She wanted to know how to pray and we found it in God’s word.
Odita got bread for thanksgiving.
Mari and I rented a kayak and took it out on the beautiful lake.
We paddled hard and began to explore the small island.
Climbing over the rocks to see millions of brightly colored fish.
We laid on the hot rocks and felt the warm sun touch our skin and the waves hit our feet.
Surrounded by God’s creation and feeling His love.
As we paddled back, we spoke and sang of Jesus and the word of God.
Mari had memorized Matthew 5 and began to speak it out.
