Family, Friends, Supporters, and the like,
I’d like to thank all of you for your prayers, words of encouragement, and generosity in giving gifts of gear and / or money! I am so grateful for each of you and the support you have shown! The following verse made me think of all of you who have given so graciously: “Yes, you will be
enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we
take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.” (- 2 Corinthians 9:11) All of your prayers and monetary support is not simply reaching and encouraging me, but those I will get to meet while on the race, so thank you so much. If you’d like to continue to help me reach my goal of $15,000, you can click here to contribute!
I am writing today to let you know that, after a lot of thought and prayer, I have decided to defer the World Race until September of this year. This means that, along with my new September 1st departure date, the route and dates for training camp have changed. My new squad, of 55-60 people, and I will now be traveling to the Philippines, India, Pioneer India/Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Pioneer Southeast Asia, Ukraine, Romania, Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya, and training camp will be July 24th through August 1st.
When I first learned of the World Race, and after praying about the
decision to go, I was so excited and wanted to leave as soon as possible, the soonest happened to be the June race. So, I chose June, but have since been feeling God stirring within me a desire to leave on a later race. I wanted to make sure that this desire wasn’t due to fear of not being able to raise funds, or just of leaving, in general. So I asked myself the question, “If I had the full amount of support I needed in my World Race account right now, would I still want to defer until September?” As you may have assumed, the answer to that question was ‘yes.’
After making my official decision, I spoke to one of my best friends about plans for the summer. She and her family offered me an opportunity to live with them, in Charlotte, NC, for about a month and a half while helping with the ministry her uncle began. It felt like this was part of God’s plan all along and I was further confirmed in my decision to defer!
I am thankful for the extra time I will now have to continue to raise support, find a home for my sweet pup, and continue in relationship with new friends, and old ones, too!
With Love Always and Forever,
Tara Davis!
