“When Jesus called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” Luke 9:1-2
We were called to do the same as the Twelve disciples; to go out in POWER and AUTHORITY to call out demons, cure diseases and proclaim the Kingdom of God and heal the sick. This is what TEAM BOLD is all about this year, using our God given giftedness and moving in power and authority. Our ministry was officially catapulted into action last Sunday at a small local church in Palenque.
Team BOLD, g*racers, and Joy went to a small church of about 20 people situated in between two homes. When we arrived we were greeted by a kiss on the cheek and a bible verse. Once the service began Josh looked over at me with a tear in his eye saying that he had a vision of placing both of his thumbs on the eyes of a blind person and praying for healing. When the elderly woman on the front row turned around he realized she was blind and he knew he needed to pray for her. At that same time I had a burden to pray for healing over another woman in a red dress. We both knew that we needed to call up the sick for healing at some point during the service.
The service proceeded with a really long time of Spirit filled worship, an introduction and prayer from the Pastor, another time of worship led by Jennifer Leverett and Stacy & Brian Alanzo. Then Johnny introduced our team, the g*racers performed a drama and Zach Parish shared his testimony. A missionary pastor gave really fiery sermon about the WORD and then congregation called all of us to the front to lay hands and pray for us. It was an incredible picture of love poured out on us as they anointed us to go forth and spread the gospel. The Pastor called out those with the gifts of Apostleship, Evangelism, Prophecy, Healing, Tongues, etc… He prayed specifically for me to use my gift of healing and prophecy to evangelize as he anointed my head and hands with oil and under the power of the Holy Spirit I fell back with a rush of peace over me. But, my favorite part is what happened next.
Josh asked Eliazar if we could call the sick forward to pray for healing. So Josh and I stood there side by side at the front of the church as almost every woman in the church and a young boy came forward for prayer. It was such a humbling experience. Then I got the opportunity to pray for Maria, the woman in the red dress and as I laid my hand on her head she immediately fell out and the girls from our squad gently laid her on the ground. I believe she was healed. My hands were on fire and tingling as if electricity was coming forth from my hands. It was just like the verse in the bible that says, the power comes forth from your hands.”
Next, I prayed for a young girl named Lethy, and as I prayed over her I had compassion on her and started to feel her pain as tears filled my eyes. So I asked Johnny to catch her and laid my hand on her forehead and as soon as I touched her she fell into Johnny’s arms. I believe she was healed. Then I prayed for another lady with beautiful long silver hair, probably in her sixties. As I prayed for her I felt pain in my stomach as if I was giving birth and felt that her sickness what not physical in nature, but that she was holding onto emotional pain. I began to tremble as I prayed in the Spirit for her restoration. All this time Josh was also praying over the sick, click here to read his blog. And, at the end we prayed for the little boy together.
It was such a beautiful and spectacular moment praying in authority and faith in Jesus Christ together with Josh for the healing of the sick. It was a moment of unity where God really empowered us as a couple to use our gifts to honor his holy name. All glory and honor to the Lord God Almighty for he has done great things through us on this day.
