Suffocation to fresh
air. Ok, maybe this is a little
over dramatic, but really I felt like I was being suffocated somehow and that my
fire was just left to kindling and embers. Not spiritually, but relationally. I needed someone to really connect with and relate to
besides our team (don’t get me wrong I love our team, but 24/7 with 6 people
you just need some new life) and God sent me an angel and a breath of fresh
air. This angels name is Gabo
(Gabrielle -– and yes how fitting also the name of an Arch Angel in the
bible).
Gabo came to Solomons porch
for our worship gathering on Sunday evening. We began a conversation and right away I knew this was a man
on fire for the Lord. In just the
first sentences he explained how he walks down the streets just throwing out
love and joy, praying for people to receive from the Lord. Gabo is a man who wherever he walks he
turns the streets to gold. He has
a powerful anointing on his life.
Gabo became a believer at
the age of 6 years old. He has had
a sort of a roller-coaster experience with his faith straying away and veering
off the path, but always coming back, and recently he has come back full
force. It was about a month and a
half ago that he really catapulted forward, giving up his old ways and following
hard after God. He still has these
deep spiritual questions wrestling through his mind, but he asks the questions
with a desire to know all he can about God, not wanting to miss a thing. It is a childlike faith.
The passion Gabo has for the
Lord is a contagious love that wraps you up in his words. He has so much depth of thought and a
desire to live a life fully devoted to the Lord in humility and integrity. It is a rare purity that he seeks and
sincerity flows from his eyes. He
is “painting the world with God colors” (Message: Matthew 5 – one
of my favorite verses and my life calling). He, like me, desires
to color outside the lines with his life and is filled with creativity. He is a free-spirit and lights the
world with Love wherever he goes.
I am so blessed to have met
this Angel, this miracle maker, this man after Gods own heart. He has encouraged me so much. It is not uncommon for me to meet a
stranger and have an instant connection, but it is an extremely exceptional
thing to meet someone who you can have such a profound spiritual connection
with even to the point of understanding without words. Gabo ( I now call him my Brother) is an
inspiration and I hope to share more of his story with you in the days to
come. I hope that you too can be
inspired by Gabo and receive the fresh air his life has brought me.
* We have also connected with some South Africans from the Global Challenge that happen to be in Panajachel as well. See some pictures below of our new friends at a bonfire on Lake Atilan.
