Kwabekenya! Oh, how I love that place! Josh and I just returned from our second trip to Kwabekenya, leading a trip for Watermarke Church with the 410 Bridge. Coming home has left me with an even deeper longing for community. I had never actually seen the Acts 2 community lived out in real life until going to this magical place. The joy is uncontainable and spills out of all of the warm smiles, the life simple and the land breathtaking. You can’t take it all in at once as it is so amazingly wonderful. Just like Ice-cream is so perfectly scrumptious, but if you try to sit down and eat the whole gallon at once, you start to loose feeling in your mouth as your tongue becomes numb and the taste fades. So you take it one bite at a time, trying to savor every last drop for fear of missing the flavor! We all left this place changed and hungering for more of this deep love that could only be described as Christ incarnate in those people! This is the place that has made me come ALIVE and you feel love bubbling up from within you, deep within. It is a sensation that is undescribable.
In Matthew 5, Jesus said, “Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage. “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”
One thing is for sure, the people of Kwabekenya are painting the world with God colors and they are bringing out the flavors of God! They leave you hungry for more!
This
trip has left me even more fired up for the World Race! We get to live
in community and live together through our struggles and joys, which I
am sure there will be plenty of both! My heart longs for depth, to
really know others and to be known by them. We will get to paint the world with God colors.
Update: We have currently raised $3,250 of our $28,000 goal and many people have committed to give monthly. Thanks to all of you for your partnership with us. Josh and I also sold our car! Yeay, thanks be to the Lord! And, please pray for us to sell our house as we put it on the market this week.
