I love finding the right words to describe something. So, here are some words that describe the woman God has created me to be: colorful, adventurous, free-spirited, optimist, creative, lover, radical, compassionate, fire-starter, intuitive, poet, spunky, introspective, outgoing, deep, revolutionary, prayer warrior, vibrant and innovative.
I am a work in progress, but I know without a shadow of a doubt that I am deeply loved and cherished by my beloved Lord! His amazing love compels me to radiate his light to everyone I encounter. The other love of my life is my wonderful and hilarious husband, Josh Bruce. He lights me up with joy and smiles! We are so great together and I am very thankful for our relationship. (If you want to hear a fantastic story, definitely ask me about how we met.)
Besides my love for the Lord and my husband, I really enjoy the simple things such as; being barefoot, chai tea, pumpkin pie without the crust, tribal drums, nature, uniqueness in people, laughter, doing anything outdoors in the rain, running, colors of fall, trying new things, adventure, music, painting, photography, writing, fresh cut grass, language, culture, deep conversations, acting silly, telling stories, giraffes, being radical and ordinary at the same time, traveling, stars, mountains, oceans, sunsets and all of God’s majestic creations.
So, now that you know a little about who I am I want to tell you about the things God has been stirring up in my heart and why I am so glad to be a part of this journey called the World Race. I am so excited to serve the poor and to live simply, in community, while traveling around the world ministering the gospel of God’s truth and perfect love. One of the passages in scripture that has been vital in my walk with the Lord is Isaiah 61:1-3, “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” I know God has called me to live out this passage.
Another key passage for me has been Acts 2:42-47. I love this picture of community and am thrilled to live in a way as to not only share life together on a daily basis, but to find my role and place in the collective whole. I know my character will be strengthened and I will be immensely stretched by this adventure and I am ready for it! I am ready to go and jump right in to all that God has in store. I am in expectation of something extraordinary.
