My very first month in the field will be spent in Cambodia! If I’m being honest, prior to about 3 months ago, I never would have imagined that I’d ever be spending a day in Cambodia, let alone living there for a whole month! So I’m a mix of nerves and excitement as I prepare to explore the first of the 11 countries that I’ll be visiting during The World Race.

As I get ready for my launch in January, I want to focus my blog on the countries that I’ll be visiting during 2019, and I wanted to invite my friends and family to join me in praying for the people of these countries, and praying for my preparation to enter into these cultures.

Over the course of the next several weeks, I’ll be pulling some info from the World Race website, sharing some information on the countries I’ll be visiting in the order I’ll be visiting them, along with a prayer that I’ll be praying that week to try and be open to God’s preparing of my heart for this experience. I’d love to have anyone join me in prayer during this season! Here’s a little info about the country of Cambodia:

“Cambodia boasts the famous Angkor Wat, a Hindu temple that later became a Buddhist monastery. Hidden for centuries under dense jungle, today Angkor Wat is one of most photographed places in the world. Cambodia itself is struggling to heal from one of the worst genocides in modern history. In the 1970’s, the Khmer Rouge killed over 1.5 million men, women, and children. Faced with inconceivable poverty and desperation, Cambodia became a source, transit point, and destination for human trafficking. The people of Cambodia are hungry for hope and healing.”

The prayer that I’ll be praying, as I focus on Cambodia over the next week, is a favorite prayer of Mother Teresa, and it was written by Cardinal John Henry Newman. Please consider praying this prayer with me this week, and joining me in praying for the people of Cambodia. Also, please be in prayer for my team and our launch in January. Pray for our preparation and our fundraising, and pray that we will be united by a shared desire to see God’s kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Pray for us to have open hearts, and eyes to see what God puts in front of us day to day. Thanks for reading…and thanks for praying!

Dear Jesus, help us to spread Your fragrance everywhere we go.

Flood our souls with Your Spirit and Life.

Penetrate and possess our whole being so utterly

that our lives may only be a radiance of Yours.

Shine through us and be so in us

that every soul we come in contact with may feel Your presence in our souls.

Let them look up, and see no longer us, but only Jesus!

Stay with us and then we shall begin to shine as You shine,

so to shine as to be a light to others.

The light, O Jesus, will be all from You; none of it will be ours.

It will be You, shining on others through us.

Let us thus praise You in the way You love best, by shining on those around us.

Let us preach You without preaching, not by words but by example,

by the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what we do,

the evident fullness of the love our hearts bear for You.

Amen.
