We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip.  Here’s what I’m expecting:

Wow.  I’ve been thinking about this blog topic for a while and here’s what I’ve come up with: I have no expectations.  That may sound a little weird, but knowing myself this is my best option.  If I have a ton of lofty expectations I will not allow myself to be completely there, serving the people and the world, because I will be consumed with the fact that it doesn’t match my expectations.  I have such a desire to give all of myself to every person, place and mission we are involved with and I know that I can’t even fathom what God has in store for us.  I know my Lord will completely blow my mind with His grace and mercy and I don’t want to put Him in a box because my expectations wouldn’t even begin to reach what He can come up with.  Therefore, I choose to leave my heart and mind wide open to enormous power of our God.
There are a couple of things that I expect/know God will do before we leave:
      >My house will be rented out (the sooner the better)
      >God will use me to encourage all the student-athletes I’ve worked with to follow His calling in their lives
      >Get to know all the other World Racers out there!!  I can’t wait!!

I do have an overall expectation for my life that comes from former pastor Kyle Lake of University Baptist Church (UBC):
As we approach this week;
May We Love God,
Embrace Beauty,
and Live Life to the Fullest.
AMEN!!!
