So, I am beginning to realize that all of my blogs so far have been focused on support raising, my passport troubles, support raising again…and I haven’t yet included any Bible verses or what I believe about many subjects pertaining to Christ, of course. I want to try and change that! I want people to realize that I am about more than just focusing on how much financial support I have and all of these other worries that I have! I want people to come to know me through this blog (especially since this will be my main communication to most people over the 11 months that I will be gone)…I want people to know the God that I know…..and I want them to know the areas of my faith that I lack in, or fear, or ignore! I want to be an open book! I want to share my life with others! But most of all, I want people to know who Christ is! So, this is a new starting point for me! For now on, I am going to try my hardest to share my life with everyone, and not focus so much on if I am lacking in the financial area!
So, where to begin! You know, music is something that I love so much! It is something that is just amazing to me! Many of you don’t know that I have been a part of this student run organization at Mississippi State University called Music Makers. This organization is one of the few organizations that bring bands to campus in hopes of entertaining the students. I joined this organization because I love music so much! But what I love even more is music, songs, and lyrics that are made to praise God! Nothing moves my soul more!
When I think of songs to praise and worship Christ, I can’t ever decide if I prefer the more contemporary worship songs or the traditional hymns. I usually come to the conclusion that I need them both. I have my moments when all I want to sing is the more contemporary songs, and then all of a sudden all I want to listen to and sing are hymns because I miss them. I just don’t know!
I also can’t help but think of Psalms when I think of beautiful songs written for my God! How beautiful! Songs that we all can relate to at different points in our lives. One of my favorite passages, or I guess it’s a chapter, in the Bible comes from Psalms; it is Psalm 40. The first time I ever read this passage, my soul just came alive! It moved me!
“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.” – Psalm 40:3
Man, I wish I could have spoken a little longer about this subject, but I am exhausted and need to go to bed! I will definitely be posting my thoughts about this subject again in the future, as well as with many of my other thoughts. Until then, thanks for reading and trying to get to know me! Laters!
