Several years back, one of my greatest desires was to travel the world. I wanted to see it all, but traveling, just to travel, sounded so selfish to me when I could be giving my life away in other ways. I had a great idea! If I knew different missionaries in different countries, I could go see them (and whatever country they were in), help their mission for a while, then head to the next country and do the same. I would get to see the world while giving my life away at the same time. It was brilliant! J However, I did not have the contacts or the finances to make my idea a reality.
Fast forward a few years….. I learned of a program called The World Race. The World Race is an extended Missions trip run by Adventures in Missions. It is an 11 month trip in which each month will be spent in a different country ministering alongside local missions. World Race participants travel in squads and teams, maintaining Biblical community, holding one another accountable and pushing each other into deeper relationship with Christ.
I am so excited for the opportunity to see the sights and experience different cultures throughout Asia, Africa and South America!
While seeing the world and traveling is still one of my great desires, I think I am just as excited about seeing how I will grow over this next year and a half. How God will stretch me and use me. How I will see things, which I didn’t think possible before, accomplished through His strength. How I will witness growth in myself and those around me. I am sure my expectations cannot do justice to the things that are before me.
So now I have the contact, but I am still lacking the funds. A few days ago, I was feeling a little daunted by the task of fundraising and God gave me this verse. “You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.” Psalms 18:28-29 (NLT) I don’t know what’s ahead, but I have peace knowing God is preparing the way. The the task is large, but definitely not impossible. I know God is more than able and willing to provide and I am excited to see house He will do it.
