I don’t have any great story or clever punch lines, but I do want to let you all know that I have made it to India. We arrived in Hyderabad almost two weeks ago. We spend a few days training then traveled to another part of the country before heading out once again to minister in neighbouring villages.
The Hindu and Muslim religions are huge here. We went to one village where there were a good amount of Christians and it was great. Then we went to another village that didn’t have quite as much Christian influence and you could sense the darkness.
The way people interacted with each other was rough. Kids were constantly fighting (I know kids fight, but the was different) and the adults were just as tough. When we first got there, it was a struggle to even get a smile out of the local kids. Just so much darkness! We spend two days there visiting families and praying over more people than I can count, and by the time we left, smiles were coming much quicker and things felt a little bit lighter. It’s amazing what the power of Jesus can do!
Culture shock has been a thing here. Mostly the dress. You have to keep your ankles and shoulders/armpits covered and wear a shirt that comes mid thigh (kurtah) or past your knees (punjabi). I do love it here though! The food is incredible and the people are so hospitable and accommodating.
I found a house that was made the same year as me. 🙂
It’s great to see how God is working here in India. The same God we serve in America is so near no matter what part of the globe you happen to be on and that’s pretty incredible!
Fundraising Update:
I came back from the village to find that an anonymous donation of $2,618 had been deposited into my account (If you’re reading this, THANK YOU!!!) That brings my total up to $4,829. I am less than $2,000 away from being fully funded! Thank you Jesus and all my supporters!
If you’re interested in helping, you can give here on my account or at https://www.youcaring.com/tammy-moye-660145.
Thank you so much to those of you who have already given. You really are an answer to prayer!
Last thing! I am trying to send out emails every other week as more of an informal update while I’m on the field this time. If you want to be added to that mailing list, comment or message me your email.
